Medical City Weatherford is a 103-bed, all private room hospital that includes a network of medical clinics serving Parker County. Under the general supervision of the unit s Director or designee the Charge Nurse assumes responsibility for direction and coordination of all functions in the unit on his/her designated shifts. In collaboration with other members of the management team, this individual is responsible for the ongoing assessment of the quality of patient care services provided in unit. Under the direct supervision of the nurse manager, the Clinical supervisor/ Charge Nurse provides holistic, individualized patient care in response to emergent, identified needs. Additional functions will be performed in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act and ENA standards in a manner consistent with the mission and goals of the organization
The Charge Nurse:
Assumes responsibility for direction and coordination of all functions during the designated shift
Functions as a resource person for staff members and assists in necessary education of individual members of the nursing staff.
Assumes responsibility for the overall quality of nursing care provided when s/he is on duty.
Makes decisions regarding activities within these areas based on Administrative Operational Standards, Nursing Administrative Standards, Human Resource Standards, and Standards of Care for the unit, in collaboration with other members of the management team.
Associate s degree required; BSN preferred.
Minimum of three (3) years experience of clinical practice in the clinical specialty of his/her unit. Leadership and management experience is highly desirable.
C. Licenses, Registrations and/or Certifications
Texas State RN license or compact license is accepted; Texas State RN license required 30 days after hire; current BLS and ACLS required; PALS required within 90 days of hire. Crisis Intervention and De-escalation training required within 90 days of hire.
